“The Consecrated lives of religious are a sign of total availability to God, the Church and the Community, while the laity – on the other hand – exercise a special form of evangelization, which calls them to use every Christian and evangelical possibility latent in the affairs of the world” – Saint John Paul II
Baptistine Laity
The Association of Lay Baptistines is a ministry of persons who are given the opportunity to take part in the life of the Church by sharing in the Charism and Mission of the Sisters of St. John the Baptist. Lay Associates see their vocation as a call to spiritual focus and commitment, just as Priests, Brothers and Sisters see their calling. They believe that their roles as Associates are part of their journey towards eternal salvation.
Inspired by the existence of Lay Associations in other parts of the Congregation, we the Baptistine Sisters in India took the initiative to launch this new venture in the life of the Indian Province since 2010. These associates collaborate with us sisters in our educational and pastoral ministry. The Association is open to all, without distinction of sex, age, race, religion, political belief, culture, wealth and class. As Associates, each one according to his or her unique gift is invited to journey with us by sharing in special time set aside for prayer. They are also invited to social gatherings and are welcome to support, expand and preserve the works of Baptistines by promoting universal solidarity, with particular regard to the needy and the marginalized.
